Black Friday · Slot Machine

A Black Friday slot machine popup with a jackpot you can afford

Every Black Friday banner promises a discount. A slot machine makes the shopper pull for it: three reels, a side lever and a PULL button on your own storefront. One pull, the reels loop while our server decides the outcome, and a matching triple reveals a code once the shopper leaves an email. This page is the whole setup: a jackpot-shaped prize table with odds you can copy, the copy for each of the four screens, the display rules for 27 to 30 November 2026, and what to read in the report on Tuesday.

  • Free plan, no credit card required
  • One pull per showing, decided on the server
  • Codes revealed only inside a win

Why a slot machine on Black Friday

Everyone is discounting. Nobody else is paying out a jackpot.

A sitewide code is the Black Friday default, and it is invisible by Friday lunchtime. A slot machine turns the same discount budget into a jackpot ladder: most pulls pay the small code, a few pay the big one, and every payout comes with an email.

A jackpot ladder, not a flat code

Three reels give you a natural ladder. Most pulls stop on the everyday discount, some on the middle rung, and a rare matching triple on the jackpot code. You set the width of each rung as a win chance in percent, so the 40% jackpot comes up exactly as often as you decide and not once more.

Four days, then it retires itself

Display rules take a start date and an end date in your time zone, plus weekday and hour windows. Set Friday 27 to Monday 30 November 2026 and the machine is live for Black Friday and Cyber Monday and gone on Tuesday, whether or not anyone on your team is at a keyboard.

A pull nobody can rig

When the shopper pulls the lever or presses PULL, the reels start looping and the browser asks our server for the outcome. The server rolls against your odds, records the play and answers; only then do the reels stop, left to right, on a matching triple or a near-miss. Codes never reach the browser except inside a win.

The prize table

A Black Friday jackpot table you can copy

Four paying prizes, one prize flagged as a Losing option, and a leftover. Type the labels, codes and chances into the Prizes panel exactly like this and the machine is loaded.

PrizeReward codeWin chanceWhy it is there
10% offBF1038%The discount you were going to give anyway. Most pulls stop here, and every one of them arrives with an email.
15% offBF1522%The middle rung. A visible step up that still leaves margin on full-price stock.
Free shippingBFSHIP15%Costs you a fixed amount per order and reads as a real win on a small basket.
Jackpot 40% offBF405%The headline. Five pulls in a hundred hit the jackpot triple, and a minimum basket on the code caps what each one costs you.
So close Losing optionnone10%A prize flagged as a Losing option keeps its label and its share of the odds, but the reels stop on a near-miss and the Losing screen shows. It never returns a code.
Nothingnone10% (leftover)The share your prizes leave short of 100%. The editor shows it as the chance of not winning as you type; on the reels it looks the same as the losing option, a near-miss with the middle reel one symbol off.

Read across the table and the arithmetic is plain: with these odds, every hundred pulls hand out roughly thirty-eight 10% codes, twenty-two 15% codes, fifteen free-shipping codes and five jackpot codes, and twenty shoppers see the Losing screen, ten from the losing option and ten from the leftover. Eighty pulls in a hundred pay something. Change any percentage and the editor recomputes the chance of not winning as you type.

The ChilliPopup wheel editor: a Prizes panel with 50% OFF at 50% chance, 25% OFF at 25% and Free shipping at 10%, an equal-chances toggle, a Chance of not winning: 15% readout, and the Play, Post-Play, Winning and Losing tabs above the wheel preview
The Prizes panel, shown here on a wheel. A slot machine uses the same panel: a label, a reward code and a win chance per prize, the Losing option flag, and the chance of not winning computed for you.
  • Create the codes in your store first: Shopify Discounts, WooCommerce Marketing → Coupons, or Wix Marketing → Coupons. Give each one the same end date as the machine and, for BF40, a minimum basket. The losing option needs no code at all.
  • ChilliPopup never creates or applies codes: it reveals the code you pasted, and only inside a winning result. The configuration that reaches the browser has every code stripped out, so nobody reads BF40 out of the page source.
  • Want every pull to pay? Remove the losing option and raise the chances until they total 100%, or switch on "Give all prizes equal chances". Every pull then stops on a matching triple and every shopper leaves with a code.
  • Keep the jackpot rare, not mythical. At 5%, one shopper in twenty hits it: often enough that the claims table proves it exists, rare enough that BF40 with a minimum basket stays inside your margin for the weekend.
Copy for the four screens

What each screen says

A slot machine has four screens: Play, Post-Play, Winning and Losing. Each is its own canvas in the editor. Write {{prize_label}} and {{prize_code}} anywhere in the Post-Play or Winning copy and the prize the reels stopped on fills them in.

Play

Pull for your Black Friday deal

Headline: Black Friday. One pull. Up to 40% off.

Sub-line: Match three and the code is yours all weekend. Pull the lever to start.

The lever and the PULL button are the controls, and the button's label comes with the theme (Neon Vegas reads "[ PULL ]"), so the copy only has to say what is at stake and how long the code lasts.

Post-Play

The reels stopped on {{prize_label}}

Headline: Three in a row. {{prize_label}} is yours.

Sub-line: Enter your email and your code appears right here. Valid until Cyber Monday, 23:59.

One email field and one button. This screen appears only after a win, so nobody is asked for an email in exchange for a near-miss.

Winning

Your code is {{prize_code}}

Headline: {{prize_code}} unlocks {{prize_label}} at checkout.

Sub-line: Use it on any order before Monday 30 November, 23:59. One code per order.

Confetti is on by default here. Add a "Shop the sale" button pointing at your Black Friday collection, so the code and the shopping happen in the same minute.

Losing

Not this pull

Headline: No match this time. The sale does not need one.

Sub-line: Everything in the Black Friday collection is already reduced, and shipping is free over $60 all weekend.

Both the losing option and the leftover land here after a near-miss. Give the shopper a door; a Losing screen that ends on a dead end is the one part of a game people remember badly.

Display rules

Rules for Black Friday through Cyber Monday

A slot machine carries the same display rules as every ChilliPopup popup: six triggers, targeting, frequency caps and a schedule. This is the set that fits a four-day sale where each showing is exactly one pull.

  • Schedule: start Friday 27 November 2026 at 00:00, end Monday 30 November at 23:59, in your time zone. The machine opens itself and closes itself.
  • Triggers: exit intent for desktop shoppers heading for the tab bar, plus a time delay of about ten seconds so mobile shoppers, who have no cursor to leave with, get the machine too. The first trigger to fire opens it.
  • Pages: one page-URL rule, doesn't contain /cart, keeps it off the cart, where a pull only interrupts someone who is already paying; product and collection pages all keep it. Page rules are any-match: a campaign shows wherever at least one of its page rules is true, so use either contains rules for the pages you want or a single doesn't-contain rule, never both.
  • Frequency: once every 7 days, plus "hide from visitors who already claimed". Each showing is one pull, so this gives every shopper one pull and at most one code for the whole weekend.
  • Audience: everyone, on desktop and mobile. Returning customers are the shoppers most likely to buy this weekend; this is not the moment to exclude them.

How it works

Codes, machine, rules: three steps

A slot machine is a popup with a game on its Play screen. If you have built a ChilliPopup popup before, you already know the editor.

1

Create the codes in your store

Make one discount code per paying prize (BF10, BF15, BFSHIP, BF40) in Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix or whatever runs your checkout. Set each to expire when the machine does and give BF40 a minimum basket. The losing option needs no code.

2

Load the machine

Pick Jackpot Inferno or Neon Vegas, type the prize table into the Prizes panel, flag "So close" as a Losing option, then rewrite the four screens and restyle the popup around the machine. Every block is drag-and-drop, and your own fonts are welcome.

3

Set the rules and publish

Enter the schedule, triggers, page rules and frequency above, then publish. If the ChilliPopup pixel is already on your site there is nothing else to install: the machine appears on Friday morning on its own.

Design

Pick the machine, then dress the room around it

There is no dedicated Black Friday template, and the machine itself is not something you repaint: the frame, the reel window, the reel symbols and the PULL button take their colours and label from the theme. Pick the theme that already looks like a Black Friday cabinet, then rewrite and restyle everything around it.

  • Start from Jackpot Inferno or Neon Vegas: both are named for the casino floor, and the theme picker previews each machine live before you commit. Neon Vegas labels its button "[ PULL ]", which suits a brand that already leans arcade.
  • Recolour the popup, not the machine: set the Play screen's background to near-black or a deep colour, keep one accent for the headline (your brand colour, a hot orange or gold) and pick a heavy display font. Background colour, gradient or image, fonts, shapes and the close button are all yours.
  • Put the jackpot in the headline: "UP TO 40% OFF" is what stops the scroll; the reels decide who gets it. Keep the sub-line to what the pull costs (nothing) and how long the code lasts (until Monday midnight).
  • Give the Winning screen its own look: screens inherit the Play style by default, but any of them can override the background, image, font and text colour. A brighter backdrop on the Winning screen makes the code reveal feel like a payout.
  • Run one A/B test: a click creates a Variant B, you set the split, each visitor keeps the version they first saw, and the two sets of results sit side by side with a confidence indicator. Test the jackpot (40% off against free shipping on everything), or Jackpot Inferno against Neon Vegas.

Tuesday morning

What to read when the weekend is over

A slot machine gets two reports: the popup report every ChilliPopup campaign has, and a game report built from the server's own record of each pull.

  • Opens against submissions: how many shoppers saw the machine, how many pulled and how many left an email, by day and by device. That is the conversion rate of the weekend's headline offer.
  • Plays by outcome: the win-versus-lose split of every pull, straight from the server's records. With the table above it should sit near eighty wins in a hundred; if it does not, the odds were saved differently from how you meant them.
  • Claimed wins by prize: whether the codes were claimed in the proportions the table predicted, and whether the jackpot was hit and claimed at all. A prize nobody claims stands out here.
  • The claims table: each winner's email, prize, code, device and time. It lives in your dashboard; ChilliPopup does not send emails and has no Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Zapier or CSV export connector today.
  • Redemptions are counted where the codes live, in your store's discount report. Matching them to the claims table tells you what the machine cost and what it brought in.
The ChilliPopup Popup Analytics page with Opens, Unique views, Clicks, Submissions, Conversion and Field inputs tiles, an interaction-over-time chart, an event breakdown, shows by device and collected fields

Good to know

Black Friday slot machines, answered

Does the slot machine switch itself off after Cyber Monday?
Yes. Display rules take a start date and an end date in your time zone, so a machine scheduled for 27 to 30 November 2026 opens for nobody on 1 December. You can also unpublish it by hand at any time, and a duplicate of the campaign can carry the same codes, or fresh December ones, into a Christmas version with December copy and colours.
How do I keep the jackpot rare without it feeling fake?
Give it its own win chance in percent, and keep that chance high enough that the jackpot actually gets hit. At 5%, roughly one pull in twenty stops on the jackpot triple, and each hit appears in the claims table with the winner's email and code. The roll happens on our server against the odds you saved, so 5% means 5% whoever is pulling; the browser only animates the reels to the result.
What does a losing pull look like on the reels?
A near-miss. The reels stop left to right and the middle reel lands one symbol off the match, then your Losing screen shows. That is what the leftover below 100% produces, and it is also what a prize flagged as a Losing option produces: that prize keeps its label and its share of the odds but never returns a code. Every losing pull is still recorded as a play and a loss in the game report.
Can I use my Shopify, WooCommerce or Wix discount codes as the prizes?
Yes. Create each code in your store first (Shopify Discounts, WooCommerce Marketing → Coupons, Wix Marketing → Coupons) with the same expiry as the machine's schedule and, for the jackpot, a minimum basket, then paste it as the prize's reward code in the Prizes panel. ChilliPopup does not create or apply codes in your store; it reveals the code you gave it, and only inside a winning result.
Is there a Black Friday slot machine template?
Not a dedicated one. The six slot machine themes are the starting points, and Jackpot Inferno and Neon Vegas are the two that already look like a casino floor. The frame, reel window and PULL button follow the theme; the background, copy, fonts and the four screens around the machine are yours to rewrite in the editor. ChilliPopup's AI drafts popups, forms, surveys and quizzes from a sentence, but the prize games start from their themes rather than from a prompt.
What does a Black Friday slot machine cost to run?
Nothing, on the Free plan: $0 per month, forever, no credit card, and it includes all four prize games, the full editor, A/B testing and analytics for 1,000 visitors a month on one domain. Pro is $29 per month and Business $79 per month, each with a 14-day free trial. Every plan shows a small "Powered by ChilliPopup" badge on the popup. See the plans →

Load the reels before the traffic arrives

Type in the prize table, flag the losing outcome, write the four screens, set the dates and publish. On Friday morning the machine opens itself, our server decides every pull, and every code you pay out comes with an email.
