Popups for Squarespace

Popups, forms & prize games for Squarespace

ChilliPopup adds targeted popups, lead-capture forms, surveys, quizzes and four prize games to any Squarespace site. One line pasted into Code Injection covers every page Squarespace renders, the ones you have today and the ones you publish next; everything else happens in a drag-and-drop editor with AI drafting, A/B tests and analytics built in.

  • Free plan, no credit card required
  • One script, every Squarespace page
  • No template edits, no iframe

Install in minutes

Three steps, one line of code

Let's be straight about it: Squarespace has no plugin marketplace for popup tools, so there is no ChilliPopup "app" to install here. There doesn't need to be. Like every third-party widget on Squarespace, ChilliPopup arrives as a single script in Code Injection. Paste it once and it runs on every page, now and later. The full walkthrough lives in our install guide for any website.

1

Copy your install code

In the ChilliPopup dashboard, open Installation Code in the left sidebar, choose Any Website and click Copy. The snippet already contains your Workspace ID, so there is nothing to edit by hand.

2

Paste it into Code Injection

In Squarespace, go to Website → Website Tools → Code Injection (older interface: Settings → Advanced → Code Injection). Paste the snippet into the Header box and save. Done once, it applies site-wide.

3

Publish and test live

Publish a popup in ChilliPopup, then open your live Squarespace URL in a private window. Once the pixel has loaded on your domain, the Installation Code screen shows a green Installed & live check.

  async="true"></script>

One paste in the Header box. Every page that Squarespace renders loads the pixel; Squarespace's checkout is the one page that never runs custom code.
Check your Squarespace plan first Code Injection is a Squarespace premium feature. As of September 2026 it is included in the Core, Plus and Advanced plans (and some legacy plans), not the entry-level plan. If it isn't in Website Tools, that is a billing question, not a missing checkbox.
Test on the published site Open your live URL in a private window rather than the Squarespace editor. Squarespace holds injected scripts back while you are logged in and editing, and a private window also sidesteps the once-per-session memory that would otherwise hide a popup you have already seen.
Paste it in one place only Code Injection or a page-level code block, never both. Loading the pixel twice can render or count a popup twice. Code Injection is the right home because it reaches every page, including ones you create next year.
Squarespace 7.0 and Ajax loading Some 7.0 templates load pages without a full refresh, which can stop third-party scripts re-running between pages. If a page-count or per-page rule behaves oddly, switch Ajax loading off in your site styles and re-test. Squarespace 7.1 sites don't have Ajax loading.
Everything from one pixel

What you can launch on a Squarespace site

Every content type below is a triggered overlay rendered by the same script, designed in the same editor and measured in the same dashboard. Squarespace's built-in pop-up is one enabled campaign at a time; this gives you as many as your site needs, each with its own design and its own rules.

Popups

Welcome offers, announcement bars, slide-ins and exit-intent saves. Start from one of 60 popup templates or a blank canvas, then drag, drop and style.

Website popups →

Lead-capture forms

Email sign-ups and enquiry forms with field validation, triggered like a popup. Submissions land in your dashboard, per campaign.

Forms →

Surveys & quizzes

Multi-step NPS, CSAT and CES surveys, and multiple-choice quizzes, with per-question results. Both also get a hosted share link and embed modes.

Surveys →   Quizzes →

Four prize games

Spin wheel, scratch card, slot machine and claw machine. The winner is decided on our servers, prize codes never reach the browser before a win, and you set the odds per prize.

Gamification →

AI drafting

Describe the campaign in a sentence and the AI drafts a popup, form, survey or quiz design you then edit like any other. Daily quota from 10 to 200 generations depending on plan.

A/B testing

One click creates a Variant B of any campaign. Pick the traffic split, every visitor sticks with the version they saw first, and results show A and B side by side with a confidence indicator.

Where to start

Three Squarespace campaigns worth building first

Squarespace sites skew towards design-led brands: stores, studios, photographers, restaurants, writers. These three fit that kind of site, and each one is a real rule set you can copy.

The store welcome offer

For a Squarespace Commerce store. A first-order discount on product and collection pages only, with the code shown on the thank-you screen so nobody waits for an email mid-purchase.

Rules: URL contains /shop · exit intent on desktop, a second copy at 50% scroll for mobile · new visitors · once every 7 days · "show again after conversion" off

The studio enquiry form

For photographers, designers and consultants. Name, email and one "what do you need?" field, shown on the pricing or contact page. The portfolio pages stay quiet so the work speaks first.

Rules: URL contains /contact or /pricing · 20-second delay · everyone · once per session · desktop and mobile

The blog content upgrade

For a Squarespace blog. A checklist or guide in exchange for an email, offered to readers who have proven they read to the end, not to everyone who lands on the page.

Rules: URL starts with /blog · 60% page scroll · everyone · once every few days · "show again after conversion" off

Works with your template

Nothing to edit in your Squarespace template

The pixel lives in Code Injection, not in your template files or on individual pages, so restyling your site never disturbs it. And because popups render directly into the page rather than inside an iframe, they scroll, resize and respond like part of your site.

  • One async script: loads in the background from a static host and never blocks your page from rendering
  • No iframe: framework-free, rendered into your page's own DOM, so mobile layouts and keyboard focus behave
  • No template edits: nothing in your template, nothing in page code blocks, nothing to redo when you restyle
  • Your typography: pick from a Google Fonts catalogue or upload your brand font so the popup matches your Squarespace type
  • Fail-silent by design: every network call is wrapped, so a hiccup on our side never breaks your site
  • Desktop and mobile toggles: allow each campaign on one device class or both; exit intent is a desktop signal, so give phones their own scroll or time trigger

Targeting

The right popup on the right Squarespace page

Squarespace URLs are unusually predictable: collections live under their slug, products underneath them, posts under the blog. A handful of URL rules covers most sites, and each campaign gets its own.

Where you want the popupRuleValue
Shop, collection and product pagesURL contains/shop
Blog posts onlyURL starts with/blog
Homepage onlyURL equalsyour domain root
The cart pageURL contains/cart
Everywhere except contactURL doesn't contain/contact
One campaign landing pageURL ends with/spring-sale
Six triggersExit intent, time delay (on the page or across the visit), scroll depth, page-view count, click count and inactivity. The popup fires on the first enabled trigger that happens.
Page rules with six operatorsContains, doesn't contain, equals, not equals, starts with, ends with. Stack several rules on one campaign.
Audience and frequencyEveryone, new or returning visitors; once a day, every visit, every session, once every few days or visits; and a switch to stop showing a campaign to people who already converted.
Advanced targetingDesktop and mobile toggles, OS and browser per device class, a date window, and a weekday-and-hour schedule anchored to the GMT offset you choose. All rules combine as AND conditions.
Cart yes, checkout no Squarespace's checkout runs on its own secure page that never loads custom code, so a "finish your order" campaign belongs on the cart page (/cart), not on checkout. Order confirmation is a separate Squarespace injection area the site-wide header code doesn't reach either.
Switch off the built-in pop-up Squarespace's promotional pop-up and a ChilliPopup campaign can meet a visitor in the same session. Pick one system; the day your first campaign goes live is the day to turn the built-in one off. The same goes for the cookie banner: delay your popup past it.
Analytics

Know what each campaign actually did

Every campaign reports views, clicks, closes, submissions and its conversion rate, so "is it even being shown?" and "is it working?" are two different numbers you can read separately. Surveys and quizzes add per-question results, games add plays, wins and claimed prizes, and A/B tests show both variants side by side.

  • Views, clicks, closes, submissions and conversion rate per campaign
  • Per-question survey and quiz results
  • A/B results with a confidence indicator that only calls a winner on enough data
  • Leads, answers and game winners readable in the dashboard

Before you decide

What ChilliPopup doesn't do on Squarespace

Better to know now than after you install.

  • No native Squarespace app or Extension. The install is the script in Code Injection, which also means your Squarespace plan has to include Code Injection (Core, Plus or Advanced, as of September 2026).
  • No email or SMS sending, and no connectors. There is no Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot or Zapier integration, no webhooks and no CSV export. Leads and answers are read in the ChilliPopup dashboard. If automatic delivery into an email tool is essential, weigh that first.
  • A "Powered by ChilliPopup" badge shows on every plan. It is small, but it is there, and no plan removes it.
  • Squarespace checkout pages never run custom code, so no campaign can appear during checkout itself. Target the cart page instead.
  • Squarespace's editor preview is not the test bench. Rules are evaluated on your live site; test the published URL in a private window.

Good to know

Squarespace popup questions, answered

Is there a ChilliPopup app or plugin for Squarespace?
No, and you don't need one. Squarespace has no plugin marketplace for popup tools, so every third-party popup builder installs the same way: one script pasted once into Code Injection. ChilliPopup takes about ten minutes to set up that way, and there is no app to keep updated afterwards. Every popup, form, survey, quiz or game you publish later goes live without touching Squarespace again.
Which Squarespace plan do I need?
One that includes Code Injection. As of September 2026 that is Squarespace's Core, Plus and Advanced plans, plus some legacy plans; the entry-level plan doesn't include it. If you can't find Code Injection under Website Tools, check your Squarespace plan before assuming the menu has moved. On the ChilliPopup side any plan works, including the Free plan at $0 a month.
Squarespace already has a promotional pop-up. Why add another tool?
Squarespace lets you enable only one promotional pop-up at a time, so the whole site shares a single design and a single offer; it can't trigger on exit intent, and it doesn't accept custom code. That is fine for a single site-wide message. ChilliPopup is for the moment you want more than one: a welcome offer on the shop, a content upgrade on the blog, an enquiry form on the pricing page, an A/B test of the headline, or a prize game instead of a plain discount box. Switch the built-in pop-up off once your first ChilliPopup campaign is live so visitors never meet two overlays.
Can I show different popups on different Squarespace pages?
Yes. Each campaign has its own page rules with six operators: contains, doesn't contain, equals, not equals, starts with and ends with. Squarespace URLs are predictable, so URL contains /shop covers a store, URL starts with /blog covers your posts, and URL equals your domain root covers the homepage. Page rules combine with triggers, device, audience, frequency and schedule rules as AND conditions.
Will ChilliPopup slow down my Squarespace site?
No. The pixel is a single framework-free script loaded asynchronously from a static host, so the browser paints your Squarespace page without waiting for it. Popups render straight into the page rather than in an iframe, and every network call is wrapped so a failure on our side never breaks your site. The one self-inflicted problem is pasting the script twice, once in Code Injection and once in a code block; paste it in one place only.
Where do form submissions and survey answers go?
Into your ChilliPopup dashboard, where you read leads, survey answers, quiz results and game winners per campaign. ChilliPopup doesn't send emails or SMS, has no connectors to email or CRM tools such as Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot or Zapier, no webhooks, and no CSV export. If automatic delivery into an email tool is essential for you, that is a real limitation to weigh before you start.
Does it work on Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1?
Yes. Code Injection exists on both versions, and the pixel doesn't depend on a template family. One caveat for 7.0: templates with Ajax loading switched on can stop third-party scripts re-running as visitors move between pages, so if a page-count or per-page rule behaves oddly, turn Ajax loading off in your site styles and re-test. Squarespace 7.1 sites don't have Ajax loading.
The script is installed but nothing shows. What should I check?
Four things, in order. The campaign must be Published, not a draft; drafts are never served. Test on your live Squarespace URL in a private window rather than inside the editor, where injected scripts are held back while you are logged in. Make sure the display rule has actually fired: a 20-second delay or an exit-intent trigger correctly stays hidden until it happens. And disable ad blockers in your own browser while testing. Squarespace checkout pages never run custom code, so target the cart page instead. The install guide has the full troubleshooting list.
